Really amazing in every aspect.. close to the quad, clean, good cafeteria, nice RA's....but it has a rather sad social scene (the severity of this really depends on the floor, but in general ISR is not the place to be for someone who wants a social college dorm). Townsend hall is generally more social than Wardall hall, but overall not too many people show up to events and stuff. There are a lot of international students here, so this is a good place to go if you are one and you want to meet some other people. If you are an engineering major then it is easier to connect with people from other floors who are in your classes, and there will be a lot of people to study with. Otherwise, I really wouldn't recommend for freshman to live here because its hard to meet people unless your floor happens to be cool (eventually you might but it will be hard at first). If you already know people on campus and you want a nice, clean, quiet dorm to live in then this is the place for you! It is very quiet and it is good for engineers, international students, or anyone who is really studious. ISR has some of the smallest dorms on campus but the furniture is new and very modern.

A really good study dorm. It is mostly engineering/science students and international students. The social life is terrible here. If you look really, really, REALLY hard you will be able to make friends...eventually. But yeah, I would recommend against it for first years.

Best dorm in UIUC. Social, but not rawdy. There's always something to do, but it's not a frat house. Filled with engineers, science majors, and other brainiacs so homework help is always plentiful. One of the only dorms with AC.

Good freshman dorm. Great place to study, but a little lacking on the social scene.

It is a great environment to study, and it is near mostly everything, the quad, the union, and classes. The only thin is I wish more buses could come around here, from different places.

The food sorta sucks, and the rooms are as small as prison cells.

ISR is a great place to live if you want a clean place with a great location. Halls are pretty quiet, but there are social opportunities to meet other residents. I had a good experience living there with friends as a sophomore.

I've lived in ISR for 2 years now and I've had no major complaints.
