I was in Weinstein my freshman year, and contrary to popular opinion, it did not seem much like a jail-cell. I haven't been to the rooms in about 2 years now, but back then, I definitely would them reasonably comfortable. It was a very convenient location, a short stumble away from Silver. And so the relatively smaller room was not much of an issue. Also my RA and other residents on the floor were incredible, we hung out a lot and still do.

Weinstein is an awesome place to live. Right next to the "campus" of NYU. You can literally wake up 5 minutes before class and get there on time. The rooms are small and the walls are cinderblocks. Loved living here. Everyone keeps their doors open because the rooms are small and everyone hangs out in the hallways and you can meet a lot of cool people. I met many of my good friends to this day from my Weinstein floor. Stay here for sure if you don't care about the small rooms.

Good place to meet friends as a freshmen since hall communities are really close.

Weinstein is certainly not the most attractive dorm (and by this I'm not referring to the residents-- Jesus, that's a totally subjective quality!) it's one of the few NYU dorm buildings that was orignally meant to be a dorm, hence why it's so plain. But it does have two dining halls and is so close to 90% of class buildings that you can literally get up five minutes before class and get to class without sweating it. Definitely ideal if you're a freshman. The community I met here is also super tight knit and fun.
