I'm currently writing this while waiting for the water to come back on in Evangeline so I can rinse the conditioner out of my hair... hope that gives you an Idea about the bathrooms. I can say, though, that this is the first time I am truly dissatisfied with evangeline hall, and that's really only because I need to be in Calculus at this moment. Love my roommates, great RA's, always opportunities to meet people. Down sides: dustiest dorm on the planet, rarely quiet, and an unreliable water supply, apparently.

The rooms are nicely sized, but the school tries to cram three students into one room originally built for two people. The cleaning service cleans the hall bathrooms twice a day and suite bathrooms once a week, although from what I have experienced they usually come in at least twice a week. Parking is absolutely horrendous, but the university is currently addressing that problem and building a parking garage meant solely for students living on campus. The location is prime: right next to the student union with the brand new Tiger Lair, and a couple minutes' walk away from the 459. There are classes given in the basement as well, so sometimes you won't even have to leave the dorm. The bathrooms are pretty much always clean unless a resident has gotten a little too drunk one night and decides to throw up all over the walls; but hey, it's college right? The kitchens are satisfactory. Yes, there is ONE oven and ONE stove for all the students to use, but absolutely no toaster whatsoever. You'd think with all the money they have to spend on fun activities in the dorm they would at least buy us a couple of toasters for bagels in the morning. Every time I've tried to study in the dorm it has been an epic failure. There is a library on the second floor, but there's usually a group of girls giggling away about their latest shacking story. I would recommend hitting up the actual library for some serious studying. The social scene can be amazing or awful depending on who you meet. There are a ton of kids who came to party and they will make sure that just that happens. However, for those who came to study and simply mingle, res life comes up with a ton of different little nights of fun for everyone in the dorm to come to and socialize at. The RAs are relatively "cool" and curfew for having visitors of the opposite sex doesn't really ever apply unless you're making a LOT of noise. All in all, a good place to live for a freshman in college, but get an apartment next year because you will get sick of dorm life after a while.

Evangeline Hall has been good and bad. It's the Basic Science all freshmen dorm and many of the residents are Biology or Chemistry majors. There is one dilapidated kitchen on the first floor. The hall baths need to be remodeled. Tile and caulk are coming loose. The walls in the rooms are really old and you can easily hear your loud neighbors. I've had many friends whose ceilings have caved in and have gigantic holes in their room. Evangeline Hall is in the Horseshoe and is right across Highland Road from the Union. Parking is awful. Many times I've had to park more than a mile from the dorm. There aren't many people in the lobby that often and it's a good place to study. There is no social scene at the hall; parties get busted all the time. Right behind the Res hall is the bus stop for the Drunk bus to Tigerland so going out is convenient. The RA's are strict and lax, depending on who you have. The work staff is really helpful and nice, get to know them. About the RA's, you may become friends with them but don't get too comfy. They're being paid to report things as they see them, even though you may know them well and even though they have no knowledge of what really happened. The dorm itself provided an interesting college experience. Would I pay to stay here again? (Even with the large spike LSU is adding to help ease their budget?) No. Every college student has to stay in a dorm for at least one year so they realize how great they really had it back home and so they'll strive harder to make good grades and talk their parents into an apartment.

Overall it was a nicer dorm than most others. The biggest down fall was simply that there were three people in one room all with different needs.

Evangeline was an all girls dorm when I lived there. Now it is the basic sciences dorm, so I'm sure things are a bit different. That said, it's a beautiful building and it's on a good are of campus.

A study orientated dorm with a library room to read and concentrate. Like the classic decorations which keep me cozy. The three person room is spacious. Dorm located across the street from student union where I often go and grab a cup of hot chocolate as a late night study break. RA cares a lot about you. and meet my closet friends that time.
